Jim Lamers was born in Victoria in May 1924 and died in February 2011. He packed a great deal into his almost 87 years of life on this earth.

He was a loving and dedicated family man, served his country in WW2, trained as a mature age physiotherapist after the war, practiced physiotherapy in Essendon, Australia for 6 decades, invented TENS electrotherapy technology and developed the first ever TENS machine, in January 1971.

He was also an adventurer, a community leader and a true and generous benefactor.

Most of all, Jim was committed to providing on-demand, inexpensive, drug-free pain relief to the people of Australia - and until the very day of his death he was working to achieve that goal.

ActivLife Technologies continues to manufacture TENS machines based upon Jim's research and designs.

The company remains in the family and all manufacture remains in Victoria, Australia.
